Eurobrick - Building up at Chiswick High Road
Contractor Cennet (UK) Limited needed a lightweight brick faced wall system for an upward extension on a building on Chiswick High Road in London. The project required a light weight system as a new floor was being added to the existing structure and foundations. A planning requirement stated that the development should not harm the character and appearance of the surrounding area, so the exterior needed a brick finish. Traditional masonry construction was not viable so alternative options were explored.
Our X-Clad system was chosen for the project as it provides a lightweight solution to suit this type of build. X-Clad’s backer panel is available in a range of thicknesses and has an installed system weight starting from just 36kg/m2 .
An extra floor was added to the existing 2 storey, end of terrace property which comprised a ground floor retail unit with residential units on the first floor above. The extension included an internal reconfiguration to provide 7 self-contained flats, the extra floor allowed the contractor to add 3 more flats than the building previously contained.
We supplied approximately 195m² of our 25mm X-Clad system with special order BEA Burwell White slips and corners which were finished with our specially formulated Europoint mortar in White. X-Clad was installed by Renderline whom we have been supplying products to since 2013, for contractors’ Cennet (UK).
