Domus Ventilation Revit BIM Files Now Available as Direct Download
Domus Ventilation is pleased to announce that its full range of Revit BIM (Building Information Modelling) files can now be downloaded directly from its website, free of charge.
BIM is a government driven shared knowledge resource, providing all of the information about every component of a building, in one easy to access place. Autodesk Revit is a BIM software for architects, structural engineers, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers, designers and contractors. It is used to create co-ordinated, consistent and complete model-based designs that drive efficiency and accuracy across the project lifecycle, from conceptual design, visualisation and analysis to fabrication and construction. Using BIM data reduces the risk of mistakes or discrepancies at an early stage, making for more cost-effective, safe construction.
The Domus Ventilation BIM library features an extensive array of products, including energy saving, whole house Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) appliances, as well as award winning Radial semi-rigid duct systems and its full range of rigid ducting and accessories, which incorporates Domus Thermal duct insulation and duct sound attenuators.
BIM ‘Object’ data on Domus Ventilation products includes detailed information such as product properties, geometry, visualisation data and functional data that enables the ‘object’ to be positioned and behave in the same manner as the product would in-situ. Airflow rates, for example, can be set at each grille or air valve, allowing engineers to easily and more accurately estimate pressure losses and velocities within the ductwork, which isn’t possible using other design packages, such as AutoCAD. Product dimensions are automatically calculated to ensure it fits into the desired design space and even the correct amount of product required is calculated within BIM to prevent product wastage. In addition, BIM enables parts to be automatically scheduled during the design process, for speed and maximum convenience.

Domus Ventilation launched next generation, HRXE Mechanical Ventilation
Domus Ventilation, part of the Polypipe group, has launched its next generation, improved performance HRXE Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) units for a wider range of residential properties than ever before.
HRXE-HERA™ and HRXE-AURA™ high performance MVHR systems combine supply and extract ventilation in one system. They efficiently recover the heat typically lost in waste, stale air and use it to temper the fresh air drawn into the building via a heat exchanger. The filtered, pre-warmed air is distributed to areas of the home such as living rooms and bedrooms, effectively meeting part of the heating load in energy efficient dwellings. Building on the success of previous HRXE MVHR systems, Domus has developed HRXE-HERA and HRXE-AURA to provide even greater efficiency through advanced heat exchange proficiency and the lowest Specific Fan Power (SFP) of any of its MVHR units. Furthermore, the new range now comes with an improved warranty of five years, with the first year covering parts and labour.
HRXE-HERA and HRXE-AURA have also benefitted from a modern, sleek new design in white and grey, with a front facia, which is consistent across the range. For the homeowner, this makes for a more attractive unit, even if it is contained within a cupboard! For the developer, the consistent look across the range is more appealing and the design is very much in line with contemporary white goods. HRXE-HERA is suited to use IN smaller properties of up to two/three bedrooms, with the HRXE-AURA extending the range to larger homes of up to four/five bedrooms.
All units feature 100% thermal (summer) bypass which automatically activates when the air temperature reaches a pre-set level, allowing in cooler, fresh, filtered air without warming it through the heat exchanger. The smart design of the HRXE means there is no reduction in airflow when operating in bypass mode. The new HRXE range is not only efficient, but also exceptionally quiet, with background (normal) ventilation at 24dB(A) (typically whisper quiet). Noise reduction can be further reduced through the use of an Anti-Vibration tray, which isolates the unit from the wall to reduce any low levels of vibration induced noise which can be distracting to residents. Within the HRXE-HERA and HRXE-AURA range, models are available with integral humidity sensors.By accurately measuring air humidity, the HRXE’s extract speed automatically changes from background to boost as the level of humidity increases, thereby providing optimal ventilation performance.
When it comes to installation, Domus Ventilation has designed HRXE-HERA and HRXE-AURA units to be even smaller than their predecessors making them ideal for wall-mounted cupboard installation, with opposite handed models available to meet different on-site requirements. Spigots on the top of the HRXE-HERA are 125mm, and 150mm for HRXE-AURA, but with Domus Ventilation’s extensive duct portfolio, adaptors are available to enable direct connection to the most common ducting size - 204x600mm flat channel duct – for quicker and more cost-effective installation.
The HRXE range has been designed to work most efficiently when used with Domus duct systems, which reduce duct bend resistance by up to 60%. Domus duct systems offer improved system performance through the exacting tolerances and engineered fit of the system, whereby pressure drops are minimised and air leakage virtually eliminated.
Domus Ventilation has a well-deserved reputation for quality, supported by excellent technical support, from a market leading manufacturer and designer. It is well placed to offer immediate, practical solutions to Building Regulations Parts F & L.
