Taking swing and sliding door automation to new levels, TORMAX sustainable iMotion technology guarantees optimum operational performance and energy efficiency by combining a high torque synchronous motor with sophisticated sensors and a ground-breaking control system that utilises LIN bus technology.
Reliable and Flexible
Designed for reliability and fully compliant with RoHS standards, the iMotion range of automatic door drives is tested well beyond current industry requirements. The high powered synchronous motors have none of the parts which usually wear out, such as gears and brushes, delivering near-indefinite life-expectancy. Further minimising maintenance, a health and safety self-monitoring system automatically makes necessary alterations in performance or signals an alert. Modular by design, expanding an iMotion door system is straightforward and cost-effective as requirements changed.
Sustainable
A sustainable option, iMotion automatic door operators are almost entirely manufactured using recyclable materials. In addition, energy consumption and heat loss from a building is minimised with iMotion technology allowing doors to be set for ‘reduced opening’ but automatically adapting if pedestrian traffic builds up from both directions. To accommodate site specific requirements individual adjustments can still be made via a user-friendly control panel. Performance is guaranteed thanks to self-monitoring torque control which adapts door operation to take account of factors such as high winds or a build-up of dirt, which may otherwise cause the door to slow down.

Recently completed, the £9m Cyber Quarter – Midlands Centre for Cyber Security, located in Skylon Park, Hereford Enterprise Zone, was designed by Associated Architects and built by Speller Metcalfe. TORMAX was contracted to the project by Aluminium Sashes to deliver a contemporary four-wing automatic revolving door to the main entrance.
Reliability and whisper-quiet operation is assured thanks to the world-class TORMAX 5201 door drive which combines a powerful, high-torque motor with impeccable design credentials to minimise maintenance requirements and ensure a long working life. With a build-in height of just 140mm, the slim 5201 allows for a shallow canopy compartment allowing a truly minimalist entrance solution to be created.
Skylon Park is the only Enterprise Zone in the country that focuses on the defence and security sector, with the cyber security centre being a joint venture between the University of Wolverhampton and Herefordshire Council, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Marches Local Enterprise Partnership.
The 2,000 square metre building allows businesses to benefit from the University’s networks and research expertise, enabling them to use specialist training rooms and laboratory spaces to tackle the growing threat of cyber-attacks.

A privately owned golf club, Thonock Park, in Lincolnshire, has recently completed an extensive refurbishment to the main building. Updating the front entrance, TORMAX worked closely with Window Concepts to deliver fully automatic access into the main reception via a contemporary, all-glass storm lobby. Comprising of inner and outer sliding doors that operate in tandem, heat-loss from the building is significantly reduced during wet and windy days.
The entire re-fit had to be completed to a very tight timescale, whilst the club remained open. With this in mind, TORMAX recommended powering the doors with their reliable 2201 door operators, which benefit from a patented component fasting mechanism, making them extremely quick and easy to install.
“There really was no margin for error in this project,” comments Joe Allmond, Contracts Manager for main contractor, Gelder Group. “In addition to the storm lobby, we also refurbished the reception area, ground and first floors. The newly refitted club was ready in time for the busy winter events calendar with the new entrance providing a smart yet highly functional access solution.”

Measuring just 142mm x 100mm, the TORMAX 2201 operator is surprisingly compact, delivering an unobtrusive and aesthetic solution for the all-glass entrance at Thonock Park.
However, it is still a powerful operator capable of driving either a single-leaf door of up to 120kg or a double set of doors weighing 100kg per leaf, providing an impressive pass-through space of up to 2000mm.
“The new storm lobby helps maintain the ambient temperature of the reception area,” said Simon Roberts, MD for TORMAX. “Using simple 2-key programming, staff can quickly adapt door opening and closing speeds to reflect the volume of foot traffic and weather conditions.”
