German innovation and quality combined with technical support throughout construction ensures you have peace of mind when it comes to your next project.
Tile and stone are widely regarded as the best materials for use with underfloor heating systems. They have high thermal conductivity, retain heat well and provide a durable surface covering.
Key for every tiled floor, managing movement becomes an even more prominent concern when specifying underfloor heating systems. A heated floor experiences heightened levels of stress and tension, due to the greater range of temperatures it is subjected to. This in turn makes failure more likely.
Schlüter’s underfloor heating systems are designed to address the above and other common issues within heated tile or stone installations. Multi-functional and easy to install, they also minimise height build-up and material volume, making for a more practical and eco-friendly solution.

DITRA-HEAT-E-DUO
The latest iteration of our electric underfloor heating system allows for enhanced functionality and even thinner assemblies. A special 2mm fleece provides a thermal break, making for a quicker warm-up, as well as impact sound reduction of up to 13dB. (Heights from 7.5mm)
DITRA-HEAT-E
Our standard electric underfloor heating system has been designed with tile and stone in mind and incorporates heating, uncoupling and waterproofing into one thin layer. It is a versatile choice for renovation and new build projects alike. (Heights from 5.5mm)
SCHLUTER-BEKOTEC-THERM HYDRONIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING
Its components may be orange in colour but Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM is definitely green by nature thanks to the distinctive environmental benefits this perfect underfloor heating system possesses.
The unique design of this advanced system from Schlüter-Systems requires a 30% thinner screed, which helps distribute heat faster and with evenness. Its low supply temperature of approximately 30°C, compared to the more conventional 50°C or the 70-90°C in some radiator systems, means Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM is extremely effective both with conventional heat generation methods and regenerative energy sources such as heat pumps or solar panels. Along with night control settings this not only protects the environment even more by saving energy, but also reduces heating bills for the end user.
From a construction perspective Schluter®-BEKOTEC-THERM is quick to install due to less material being used than in other systems; highly durable, with loads in private and commercial buildings up to 5kN/m2; and has proven suitability, with damage free practical application for several years as certified by a number of independent institutes.

SCHLÜTER - A Helping Hand with Underfloor Heating
It’s an increasingly popular feature to specify, especially for tile and stone; but when it comes to underfloor and surface heating, one size does not fit all.
For this very reason, Schlüter-Systems offers a variety of solutions. The two system technologies available on the market today have differing benefits and features, so we’ve put together a brief overview to help in selecting the best complement to your project.
Why use electric?
Electric systems are ideal for providing additional comfort in specific areas or rooms. There are a couple of reasons why electric systems are best used in this way, namely the cost of electricity and the characteristics of the heating experience. An electric system is designed to raise the temperature of the surface rather than the room, so is an enhancement to as opposed to a replacement for a primary heat source. They are generally cheap to install, quick to warm up and easy to retro-fit.
Specify this: Schlüter®-DITRA-HEAT-E
Schlüter®-DITRA-HEAT-E is the perfect integrated electric solution for the heating and protection of tile and stone coverings. The uncoupling matting prevents cracks in the finished installation and eliminates the need for self-levelling, and its unique studded design means that the cable is easily pressed into place with no need for tape, glue or measurement. Provision of the mat and cable as separate elements means that the heating system can be custom designed around the features of a room, ensuring the most efficient use of materials and saving on running costs.
DITRA-HEAT-E is available in kits or as individual components, for maximum flexibility, and can be used to heat both walls and floors for that added touch of luxury. Dependent on your project requirements, the system can be specified with standard DITRA-HEAT or with DITRA-HEAT-DUO matting, the latter of which offers an integrated thermal break and impact sound reduction of up to 13dB (perceived as a 50% reduction by the human ear).
Why use hydronic?
Hydronic (or ‘wet’) systems are ideal for large scale coverage and ‘whole-house’ scenarios. Designed to heat the air within a room as well as the surface covering, they are a primary heat source and can therefore replace radiators, connecting directly to a boiler. Although installation is more expensive than with an electric system, running costs are cheaper. Hydronic systems can be powered by a number of different fuel sources, including ground source heat pumps, and as well as warming a space can also be used for gentle passive cooling during the summer months.
Specify this: Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM
Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM is the patented hydronic underfloor heating solution with an ultra-low construction height. A screed height of just 8mm above the studs of the panels is all that is required, which results in quicker warm-up times as well as considerable material and weight savings in comparison to other wet systems. A building can also be put into use more rapidly as there is no need to wait weeks for the screed to cure before tiles are installed.
BEKOTEC-THERM can be configured to work with Building Management Systems (BMS) and a number of variants suitable for retrofitting are available. Schlüter-Systems can also provide a full design service for all BEKOTEC-THERM installations, with our experts ensuring that the system is used to its full potential.
All of Schlüter’s products are designed to work together—you can use DITRA-HEAT-E in partnership with BEKOTEC-THERM, to further elevate the underfloor heating experience. For more information, call 01530 813396, email pr@schluter.co.uk or visit www.schluter.co.uk.
Schlüter Set to Exhibit at Hard Surfaces 2019
Schlüter Set to Exhibit at Hard Surfaces 2019
The market-leading tiling systems manufacturer is busy preparing for the inaugural Hard Surfaces Show, at which it plans to demonstrate its all-round prowess in not just product, but its unique understanding of applications and services.
The Coalville-based UK operation of the internationally renowned company is selective in the national exhibitions it attends, but has identified the Hard Surfaces Show in conjunction with the Natural Stone Show to be an excellent match for its solutions and sphere of work. A unique stand is being crafted to suit the 36m2 space booked and is due to be a key source of inspiration and discussion.
The focal point of the stand will be a functioning wetroom space, at once demonstrating Schlüter’s solutions for substrates, waterproofing, uncoupling, under-surface heating, drainage and profiles. Through strategically cut-away sections of tile, visitors will be privy to exactly where and why products are used.
“We can show samples of membranes and pieces of profile in isolation, but this approach ultimately doesn’t do the products justice”, says Carl Stokes, Head of Marketing at Schlüter-Systems Ltd, “Our solutions come alive when people see how they work together in the context of an overall design, and Hard Surfaces 2019 is the perfect stage for our ambitious and eye-catching centre-piece”.
The focus on how Schlüter can support successful tile and stone installations will be continued throughout the stand with sample pairings of tile and finishing profile in-line with the latest trends. The Schlüter team will also be presenting some of the latest additions to the company’s portfolio, including the Schlüter-TROBA-LEVEL pedestal system for loose-lay tile and pavers and the Schlüter-SHELF range of designer shelving solutions.
Schlüter-Systems boasts an experienced team of specification experts assigned to support different regions across the UK and Ireland and understand their unique characteristics. This has led to Schlüter products being included in all manner of projects across the hotel and leisure, residential, commercial, retail and transport sectors.
You will find Schlüter-Systems Ltd on Stand J16 of Hard Surfaces 2019. For more information about Schlüter-Systems Ltd’s attendance at the event, please call 01530 813396 or email pr@schluter.co.uk.
