ACO BUILDING DRAINAGE NAMED ‘COMPANY OF THE YEAR’

ACO Building Drainage has been named Company of the Year by Food Processing magazine at its prestigious Food Processing Awards. Part of the magazine's Appetite4Engineering event, the Awards recognise excellence in the food industry.

ACO Building Drainage was voted as Company of the Year by thousands of Food Processing magazine readers in recognition of its commitment to raising awareness for the importance of hygienic drainage, working with the industry and all parts of the supply chain to improve standards and share best practice, and to designing and manufacturing products that deliver optimal hygienic performance.

In the last 12 months alone, the company has:

Launched its HygieneFirst philosophy, an approach which underpins its approach to product development.

Launched a new class-leading hygienic drainage system comprising tray channel, grate and foul air trap (FAT). The first range on the market to fully comply with EHEDG best practice guidelines, the new products have been developed using technical guidance provided by EHEDG and following extensive industry consultation.

Become the first company to incorporate the latest hygienic design principles developed by EHEDG into commercial drainage and to provide new products that incorporate the hygienic design principles normally reserved for food contact equipment.

Worked with market-leading flooring manufacturers and research body Campden BRI to conduct research into the 'cleanability' of channels and gullies, and the motility of psychrotrophic bacteria.

Delivered conferences for bodies including the CIEH in addition to master classes and other training events for the National Centre for Food Manufacturing, and members of SoFHT and SoPHE.

Worked in partnership with market-leading flooring, chemical and cleaning companies BASF, Ecolab and Vikan to further understand the relationship between drainage systems, flooring specifications and cleaning practices, and to develop improved best practice guidelines. This expertise is being shared via new CPDs created in conjunction with BASF, Ecolab and Vikan.

Acted as a catalyst and leading proponent along with other UK industry bodies and suppliers to develop the framework and gain EHEDG approval for the creation of a UK & Ireland Regional Section of EHEDG.

Andy Buchan, Divisional Managing Director of ACO Building Drainage, said: "We are delighted to be named as Company of the Year by Food Processing magazine and its readers. The Award recognises our determination to raise the profile and standard of hygienic drainage, something which we feel is crucial for food safety and the future of the food manufacturing industry."
