Some tile backer boards are cement-faced, which makes them water sensitive, but SCHLÜTER®- KERDI-BOARD is the only truly waterproof board I can buy. It is easy and clean to cut using the helpful 10mm grid markings and whilst the board is lightweight it is extremely strong, holding far more weight than plasterboards. It is also very fast and easy to create a bonded waterproof area.

A waterproof product such as SCHLÜTER®-KERDI-BOARD does not permit the passage of water / is impervious to water. Meanwhile a water-resistant product means it does not break down in water and is able to resist water penetration to a small degree. There have been examples where people have thought that the water-resistant properties of tiling systems used in installations would serve as adequate waterproofing, only for water to seep into the fabric of buildings through tiled floors and walls.
As well as being waterproof, temperature resistant and vapour retardant, SCHLÜTER®-KERDI-BOARD is thermally insulating, quick and easy to install, lightweight and therefore easy to handle and transport.
