How To Install A Walk On Rooflight

If you’re looking to brighten up a basement or a room directly below a roof terrace, a walk on rooflight will allow you to let the sunshine in without sacrificing any square footage from the space above. On top of that, a quality walk on rooflight is a design feature in itself.

Walk on rooflights are naturally far sturdier than normal rooflights because they are built to easily and safely take the weight of people walking over them. Their composition is, therefore, more complicated than a standard rooflight.

In keeping with the rest of our neo Advance range, our recently launched neo Advance Skywalk+ has a durable aluminium frame with our thermal shield technology to improve thermal efficiency and protect against condensation, allowing for a whole-window Uw-value as low as 1.19 W/m2k. But, as a walk on, it also features a triple ply laminated glass outer leaf, a laminated inner pane and anti-slip coating as standard.

Triple ply lamination is over and above the spec of most other walk on rooflights on the market, double ply is enough to satisfy building regulations, but that’s because the neo Advance Skywalk+ is the safest as standard product on the market for A1 category domestic walk on applications.*

Does that make it harder to install? While walk ons are more sophisticated than standard window systems, and the neo Advance Skywalk+ is the highest spec walk on available on the market, you’ll be pleased to learn that it’s just as easy and straightforward to install as our other products.

First, you create the space in the roof that the rooflight will occupy, fit the kerb upstand, and simply slot the rooflight onto it. Then the floor material, whether it be wood decking, stone tile or maybe even artificial grass, can be built around it to ensure the rooflight sits flush with the flooring.

What’s even more reassuring is that, if you do need help, you can always contact one of our specialist teams on the email or phone number at the top of the page. But that’s really all there is to it. So, why wait? Create a stunning design feature while transforming your subterranean room or the space below your roof terrace with the neo Advance Skywalk+!
