Queen Elizabeth Hospital | Vepps®
Our Vepps® Healthcare range was heavily used throughout the wards ensuite, shower and dirty utility rooms.
The Project.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital forms part of the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS trust, providing a wide range of planned and emergency services.
Dr Elizabeth Aitken, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Medical Director, explained that “the facility often receives more ambulances than any other hospital in London and in the past we simply haven’t had enough space for all our patients after they have been seen in A&E.” This has warranted the construction of two new short stay inpatient wards.
The Challenge.
To compensate a tight schedule, Vinci Construction offered an alternative solution to the original specification, having previously used our pre-assembled products. With the hospital working hard to ensure infection prevention, it was essential that the new wards were equipped with the right tools to encourage good hand hygiene among staff, in their various day to day interactions with patients.
The Solution.
Our Vepps healthcare range was heavily used throughout the wards ensuite, shower and dirty utility rooms. All sanitaryware was pre-plumbed and tested at our manufacturing facility, saving time and reducing labour required on site through our click-fix technology. By choosing Vepps the installation could be achieved up to 75% faster than other traditional methods.
Vinci’s Commercial Director, Kevin Millen, was especially pleased with the products contribution, stating “The pre-installed sanitaryware provided a better quality finish and a programme advantage”. This underpins the beauty of Vepps, which has been specifically engineered to achieve the highest quality finish in the shortest amount of time on site.
We supplied more than 40 boxed-out hand washing units, to suit various clinical purposes and provide staff with plenty of opportunities to stay sanitised. With so many units, the hospital required hassle free maintenance, which was achieved with our linear-bearing hinged and lockable duct access panels that require no manual handling.
Vepps has proven to be the best solution for this project in terms of quality and speed, the two major contributors to the success of delivering this new healthcare facility.
Kevin Millen, Vinci’s Commercial Manager, expressed that “Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust CEO, Ben Travis, was delighted with the new facility and looks forward to welcoming patients. He also confirmed that this project was the catalyst for delivering improved care and facilities at Woolwich”
