This listed heritage home in a Sussex village extended their limited space with the construction of a separate modern family garden room. The two buildings are connected with a structural glass linkway that offers minimal impact to the traditional flint exterior of the original building whilst joining perfectly with the new extension. Wholly constructed in glass, with structural glass fins and beams it provides a stylish and functional interface between old and new.
Glass balustrades to country property
The Juliette balconies on the stylish country home in the South of England ensure uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside from the bedrooms. The full height windows can be opened safely with no visible fixings or handrails to impact on the views. Fully frameless glass balustrades were also installed, providing outside space on the first floor with no intrusive metalwork.
An unusual kitchen in a country home in Sussex combines Shaker-style wooden furniture with an impressive worktop and splashbacks in coloured glass. Cut perfectly to shape and accommodating sinks, taps, sockets and wall fittings, the glass provides a functional kitchen surface whilst making a contemporary design statement in a traditional environment.
The frameless glass balustrade to the curved staircase and internal bridge in this barn conversion was designed to avoid the need for intrusive metalwork or handrails, with nothing to detract from the dramatic visual impact of the original oak roof structure. Extensive use of glass throughout the building has retained the essence of the building whilst creating a very contemporary space.
