Manchester Flats Use Non-combustible Soffit Cladding
Non-combustible secret fix aluminium soffit cladding designed and manufactured by Dales-eaves has been installed on the recessed balconies of The Astley, a £27m development in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
The UK government’s Approved Document Part B: Fire Safety requires that balconies on residential buildings over 18m must be constructed with non-combustible materials that are classified either A1 or A2 s1, d0. More information on Part B: Fire Safety can be found here.
Dales secret fix aluminium soffit panels were coated in Interpon D1036 architectural polyester powder coating in RAL 1036 Matt Pearl Gold, which achieves A2 s1, d0 Classification Reaction to Fire EN BS 13501-1:2018.
The 8 to 14-storey tower provides 135 private rented sector (PRS) apartments at the corner of Port Street and Great Ancoats Street and was developed by Mulbury City.
Stafford Rainwater Systems Ltd fitted the Dales Secret Fix Aluminium Soffit panels along with Dales Weatherstruck Aluminium Wall Coping for facades contractor; Longworth Building Services Ltd.
Tim Groom Architects designed the development which is built on a site that was once home to the Astley Arms public house. Remains and artefacts from the pub, which was built in the early 1800s, were discovered during the excavation of the site.
