Bellway Homes specify Forticrete roof tiles

October 2018

Forticrete's award-winning Gemini® roof tile and its high performance Minislate® roof tile have been specified by Bellway Homes for the construction of Newland Manor, a multi-million pound development comprising 39 three, four and five bedroom quality family homes in Droitwich, Worcestershire.

With direct transport links to Birmingham and Worcester, Newland Manor is situated within immaculately landscaped grounds on a quiet country lane to the south of historic spa town, Droitwich Spa. The new development comprises 12 affordable homes and 27 private dwellings.

Bellway Homes specified Forticrete's innovative Gemini® twin interlocking plain tile in Jacobean and Mixed Russet, in addition to its inspiring Minislate® roof tile in Welsh Blue and Slate Grey to complement the site's local vernacular.

Kevin Scott, Design Co-ordinator at Bellway Homes (West Midlands), commented: "At Bellway Homes, when we specify products, we source solutions that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are also cost-effective and provide considerable ease of use.

"Having specified Forticrete products across many of our developments over the years, we had no reservations that they would deliver yet again. Forticrete's Gemini® and Minislate® roof tiles didn't disappoint, providing us with an ideal solution to deliver the striking finish the development required. We couldn't be happier with the results."

Forticrete's Gemini interlocking tiles have been specifically designed to replicate the look and feel of a traditional plain tile roof. They are specifically designed as interlocking tiles which are just 270mm x 337mm overall, yet because of a carefully judged central groove and innovative 'double cambered' design, they have the appearance of two traditional plain tiles side by side when laid, effectively laying two tiles at a time. As a consequence they have 40% less CO2 emissions per m2 roof and, as they use less tiles per m2, the cost to lay them is also significantly reduced.

Forticrete's Minislate® interlocking roof tile provides a thin leading edge and small element size, maintaining the appearance of a 20 x 12.4 traditional natural slate roof when laid. With a fibre free composition, Minislate® roof tiles are lightweight, strong and are fixed as simply as conventional interlocking tiles with hidden fixings.
