The Lanner Primary School is dedicated to promoting a caring ethos. The school is always looking for ways to make cost effective improvements to the school for the safety and comfort of pupils and to enhance their learning and playing experiences. The school hall floor needed replacing, and had issues with sound reverberation and was an uncomfortable surface for students to sit on.
Approach
Nathan Campling from Eden Flooring & Interiors suggested using 2.85mm Altro Orchestra to increase comfort and improve acoustics in the hall. Specifying a comfort flooring option, instead of a standard floor covering, can improve the performance of space for children and those with hearing difficulties, and aid concentration, in addition to creating a more effective learning environment for teachers and support staff.
The school agreed, and Altro Orchestra was installed by Eden Flooring & Interiors.
Solution
Altro Orchestra has proven a big hit with pupils. Since installation, the children have commented that the new floor makes it significantly more comfortable to sit on than the flooring it replaced. The integrated impact sound insulation system also cuts impact sound by up to 15dB.
In addition, the low residual indentation of the flooring means furniture and equipment can be used and moved flexibly without leaving tell-tale marks.
