Plastic Omnium cleaning crew get busy across the UK

March 2018

Despite freezing temperatures, torrential rain and even a little snow, Plastic Omnium’s specialist crew are giving a large number of underground waste management systems across the UK a thorough cleaning.

Throughout March, the two-man crew has been raising, emptying, jet-washing and lowering hundreds of Plastic Omnium’s market-leading underground systems.

Starting in Lambeth, in South London, the crew headed to Tower Hamlets, in East London, and on to South East London, before heading out of the capital. The month-long assignment will then culminate in a series of cleaning and maintenance demonstrations in other locations where underground waste containers are used.

Plastic Omnium’s hot wash cleaning service is offered to its local authority, registered social landlord and property management company clients. The cleaning, maintenance and repairs service can also be engaged to service underground waste management systems previously installed by other suppliers.

Each cleaning crew is supported by a purpose-built truck, which carries a fully enclosed hot washing facility supplied from a large on board water tank, and a hydraulic crane which is used to lift each underground container into and out of the truck. Plastic Omnium’s cleaning service ensures that the residents have a more enjoyable experience when using the underground waste storage container, while encouraging increased rates of recycling. Additionally the washing and maintenance programme offered by Plastic Omnium helps to prolong the system’s operational life.

Richard Gregg, managing director of Plastic Omnium Urban Systems, based in Oldbury, commented:

“We are delighted to offer our customers both old and new this washing and maintenance service. This is a great opportunity to ensure that your underground waste collection systems are clean, grime-free and operating perfectly.

“The systems are installed in an increasing number of wide-ranging urban environments and on behalf of local authorities, housing associations, property management companies and other private sector providers. Whilst our own customers usually receive this service as part of their ongoing contract with us, it is also available to those who have previously installed systems manufactured by other suppliers, but who now need the very best when it comes to cleaning and maintenance.

“As our team moves around the UK, we look forward to seeing clean and odourless underground waste management systems emerge from the gloom of the British winter.”
