Poplar Harca Housing Association use Plastic Omnium Containers

Eight years ago, Poplar Harca Housing Association chose to install another manufacturer’s underground containers for the containerization of waste in one of its flatted developments.
The manufacturer did not offer maintenance or a cleaning service for its underground containers and the underground containers soon became in a poor condition.
The Housing Association had to do something to remedy the situation and with the original supplier not offering support was faced with a difficult challenge.
It was apparent that some containers were broken and possibly dangerous; others were covered with graffiti and all needed cleaning.
Poplar Harca met up with Plastic Omnium who were able to go and audit the containers and propose a full service to repair and clean existing systems or to remove and replace the existing damaged underground containers.
Plastic Omnium were able to create replacement systems that fitted the existing concrete holes thus avoiding the need for expensive and time consuming civil works.
The old underground containers were removed and replaced by new Plastic Omnium systems with the old systems taken away and recycled.
Poplar Harca now take advantage of a Plastic Omnium’s full maintenance service and internal and external washing and disinfection programme.
To overcome the problem of graffiti the Plastic Omnium underground containers are painted with anti-graffiti paint.
Additionally Plastic Omnium has provided a solution to minimize odours in the containers with the installation of anti-odour products.
The result is that the new containers installed five years ago are still in excellent condition and the resident’s satisfaction levels with Polar Harca Housing Association are very high.
